Maa Siddhidatri: The Bestower of Siddhis and Ultimate Knowledge!

Maa Siddhidatri, the ninth and final form of the Navadurga, is worshipped on the ninth day of Navratri. Her name itself reveals her essence: "Siddhi" meaning perfection, accomplishment, or supernatural powers, and "Datri" meaning the giver or bestower. Thus, Maa Siddhidatri is the goddess who grants all types of siddhis (divine abilities) and fulfills the desires of her devotees.

Maa Siddhidatri is considered the ultimate form of Goddess Durga, possessing all the eight primary siddhis:   

• Anima: The ability to become as small as one wishes.
• Mahima: The ability to become as large as one wishes.   
• Garima: The ability to become as heavy as one wishes.   
• Laghima: The ability to become as light as one wishes.   
• Prapti: The ability to obtain anything one desires.   
• Prakamya: The ability to exercise irresistible will.   
• Ishitva: The ability to possess absolute lordship.   
• Vashitva: The power to control all.   

Beyond these, she is believed to grant numerous other divine powers and spiritual attainments. Her worship is the culmination of the Navratri festival, signifying the achievement of spiritual evolution.   

In her iconography, Maa Siddhidatri is often depicted seated on a fully bloomed lotus flower, radiating peace and serenity. She is typically shown with four arms. In her right upper hand, she holds a discus (chakra), and in her left upper hand, she holds a conch shell (shankh). Her lower right hand holds a mace (gada), and her lower left hand holds a lotus flower. She is often draped in a red saree.

Maa Siddhidatri is closely associated with Lord Shiva. According to mythology, Lord Shiva attained all his siddhis by worshipping her. It is believed that due to her blessings, half of Lord Shiva's body became that of Goddess Durga, leading to his famous Ardhanarishwara form, symbolizing the inseparable union of male and female energies. This form represents the perfect balance and harmony in the universe.
