Chaitra Navratri 2026 Day 9: Maa Siddhidatri (Ram Navami) Puja and Significance!

The grand finale of Chaitra Navratri is dedicated to Maa Siddhidatri, the ninth form of Goddess Durga. Her name is derived from Siddhi (supernatural powers/perfection) and Datri (giver). She is the ultimate source of all mystical powers and the one who fulfills all divine and worldly desires.

In 2026, the ninth day falls on Friday, March 27, 2026, coinciding with the birth of Lord Rama, celebrated as Ram Navami.


The Legend of Maa Siddhidatri

According to the Puranas, Lord Shiva worshipped Maa Siddhidatri to obtain all the Siddhis. By her grace, half of Lord Shiva’s body became that of the Goddess, leading to his manifestation as Ardhanarishwar.

She is depicted sitting on a lotus (sometimes riding a lion), possessing four arms. She holds a Gada (mace), Chakra (discus), Shankh (conch shell), and a Lotus. She is worshipped not only by humans but also by Devas, Gandharvas, Asuras, and Yakshas to attain perfection.

Significance of Navami

  • Attainment of Perfection: Worshipping her grants the eight primary Siddhis (Anima, Mahima, Garima, Ladhima, Prapti, Prakaamya, Ishtva, and Vashitva).

  • Completion of Vrat: This day marks the successful completion of the nine-day fast.

  • Spiritual Awakening: She governs the Sahasrara Chakra, representing the highest state of consciousness and union with the divine.


How to Worship Maa Siddhidatri (Puja Vidhi)

  1. Morning Rituals: Wear Purple attire, symbolizing ambition, power, and luxury.

  2. Puja: Perform the final Navratri puja with flowers, incense, and lamps.

  3. Offering (Bhog): The traditional offering for Maa Siddhidatri includes Sesame Seeds (Til). Many also offer a full meal of Puri, Chana, and Halwa.

  4. Havan: A sacred fire ritual (Havan) is usually performed today to conclude the Navratri festival, ensuring the protection and blessing of the household.
