Maa Kushmanda is a lesser-known avatar of Goddess Durga and is worshipped on the fourth day of Navratri . Goddess Kushmanda : The Creator of Light and Life on Earth. Because Goddess Kushmanda has eight hands, Ashtabhuja Devi is another name for her. It is thought that her Jap Mala contains all of the ability to grant Siddhis and Niddhis. It is said that with a little glimpse of her smile, she created the entire universe, known in Sanskrit as Brahmanda ( ब्रह्माण्ड ). She also like Kushmanda, or Bali white pumpkin ( कूष्माण्ड ). Because of her ties to Brahmanda and Kushmanda her name is commonly used as Goddess Kushmanda.   Meaning of Name “Kushmanda”: The name "Kushmanda" comes from the Sanskrit words "Ku" (little), "Ushma" (warmth), and "Anda" (cosmic egg).
